As people try and get that first interview via emails, nice paper, others are making their own video. This is something that is starting to gain traction, as the availability of broadband and video-editing software becomes more prominent. The use of a video resume and could be just the edge you need to get the in-person interview. With the like of YouTube, and Google video, more and more people are uploading videos of themselves acting out music videos, so it only makes since to use the medium to get a job.
A few key points to consider when posting a resume video. It should be short, usually three minutes, and specific to the opportunity for which you are seeking. You should treat it just like you would for a live interview, so no reading off of a script. Remember to rehearse before posting your online video as you never know who may be watching. There are several job sites, that are now tailoring to this new way of posting your resume. And even some large employers such as Cingular and Home Depot are using this as another tool to identify candidates.
